Cost Of Eye Surgery

Mr Alex Day’s self pay fees are surprise-free, which means there are no last minute additions. The fees below include all hospital, surgical, anaesthetic fees as well as post-operative assessment and any necessary medications taken home on the day of surgery.
Prices are correct as of 2 January 2024.
All new patient consultation fees are those if booked directly via my practice on 0207 100 5468 or the link below; and will differ to those booked via Moorfields Private booking line.
Payment is required 48 hours in advance of appointments and treatments. In the case of providing less than 48 hours notice for rescheduling your appointment, there is a discretionary £100 late cancellation fee. A detailed receipt for all treatments will be provided and patients may be able to submit this to their respective insurance company for reimbursement. Please note Mr Alex Day will no longer invoice on behalf of insurance patients and does not accept patients with AXA-PPP, BUPA or Vitality insurance

Laser Eye Surgery

Your treatment includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s surgical fee,
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee,
  • Post-operative eye drops (to take home on the day),
  • Follow-up assessments for two years,
  • Any further laser eye treatment within two years if required.

Other eye conditions unrelated to the laser refractive surgery are not included.

Standard Private Cataract Surgery

Your treatment includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s surgical fee,
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee,
  • The Consultant Anaesthetist’s fee for sedation,
  • Standard monofocal intraocular lens implant,
  • Immediate post-operative eye drops (to take home on the day),
  • Follow-up appointments for six months.

Approximately 1 in 10 people will need YAG laser treatment at some stage after cataract surgery, and this is not included in the procedure fee.

Premium Private Cataract Surgery and Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

Your treatment includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s surgical fee,
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee,
  • The Consultant Anaesthetist’s fee for sedation,
  • A premium intraocular lens implant (extended depth of focus or multifocal lens) and astigmatism management (NB. fee varies depending on intraocular lens chosen),
  • Immediate post-operative eye drops (to take home on the day),
  • Follow-up appointments for six months.

Approximately 1 in 10 people will need YAG laser treatment at some stage after cataract surgery, and this is not included in the procedure fee.

Premium Private Cataract Surgery or Refractive Lens Exchange using Catalys™ femtosecond laser

Your treatment includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s surgical fee,
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee,
  • The Consultant Anaesthetist’s fee for sedation,
  • A premium intraocular lens implant (extended depth of focus or multifocal lens) and astigmatism management (NB. fee varies depending on intraocular lens chosen),
  • Immediate post-operative eye drops (to take home on the day),
  • Follow-up appointments for six months.

Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) Surgery

Your treatment includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s surgical fee,
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee,
  • The Consultant Anaesthetist’s fee for sedation,
  • Latest Staar Visian EVO+ ICL™
  • Immediate post-operative eye drops (to take home on the day),
  • Follow-up appointments for six months.

YAG Laser Capsulotomy

YAG laser capsulotomy is performed as an outpatient procedure for posterior capsule opacification. The self-pay fee includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s fee,
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee,
  • Post-operative eye drops.

Corneal Collagen Crosslinking

This is performed as an outpatient procedure. Your treatment includes:

  • Mr Alex Day’s fee.
  • Moorfields Eye Hospital facility fee.
  • Post-operative eye drops.
  • Follow-up for 3 months.

Orthoptics and Other Investigations and Treatments

There is a fee for a specialist eye movement (orthoptic) assessment. Orthoptic assessment is typically needed to determine your suitability for treatment if you have a squint, or have had squint surgery either as an adult or child. This assessment will be arranged on your behalf as needed. The fee is £100.
